Installation of upgrade kit was ridiculously easy and works around Yamaha Silent Guitar proprietary single pin-hole dilemma. Was concerned about locking tuners with all the up and down tuning I do, but a little bit of extra wrap on the 1 and 2 strings seems to have prevented breakage so far. Will likely buy two more sets.
(Scar on headstock is from a bit of breakage repair after the guitar fell off stage! Nothing to do with the tuners!)
I've tried every kind of locking tuner and the Hipshots are the best. I use them exclusively in all my builds. (They all get brass plated to match the hardware - if Hipshot ever made a raw brass version, that would save me a lot of work!)
Despite satisfactory performance of the original tuning machines on my ‘10 LP, I had to swap them out. The plastic buttons not only look wrong to me, but are not durable. These replacements were more than easy to install, work great, look way better and made string changes faster while making tuning more stable.

Tried to get on with the Gibson G-force tuning system for about two years. A great idea in theory but I couldn't get it to the accuracy I was after.
I decided to get some locking tuners. I did some research on line and noticed some hipshot tuners that you don't have to drill holes in your head stock. (the g-force system doesn't have screws). So I bought a 3+3 set.
The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. It took me about half an hour to fit the tuners. My guitar stays in tune nicely now. At last.
One minor niggle. I wanted chrome tuners but I would have liked black mount plates. There's no option for mix and match.
On the whole though, an excellent product. Solid and very well made.
Just added my Hipshot Grip-Lock open tuners to my Ibanez AS73. They fit perfectly, just had to drill the holes for the small screws on the back. Great quality, look and work great! May add to one of my other guitars!
Installed a set of these on my Electra Omega Prime. The stock Klusons were also great quality, but you can't beat the far easier string swapping with locking tuners. Plus, if I'm being honest, I love the aesthetic of the open gear Hipshots more than the Klusons. I was pretty anxious about pulling the trigger on buying and installing these; this was the first mod I have ever done on ANY guitar. It could not have been simpler. All I had to do was remove the Klusons and drop in the Hipshots; no drilling or mangling of the headstock required!

I received 2 sets of the Grip- Lock tuners for Christmas (I have the best in-laws ever) one for a Tele and the other for a Gretsch G5622T. The post on the set for the Gretsch were too short , so I reached out to Hipshot to see if there was anything that could be done. Jason and Kathy were awesome! That had me taken care of with no trouble. The tuners are 10mm and the factory holes on the Gretsch are 8mm. I used a wood reamer to enlarge the backside just enough to accommodate the new tuners, but still allow for the originals to be re-installed(why?). The tuners are amazing so easy to install and stability with the Bigsby is greatly improved. Looking forward to getting the other set installed on the Tele. Hipshot makes great product, I have a Tremsetter that is probably 20 years old and still works great!

I had Gibson deluxe tuners before these and they kept going out of tune, but with the hipshot tuners, 5 minutes after installation it works better than anything I have ever played.
This is a must have for anyone without Floyd rose, changing strings is 10 times faster and easier, and the tuning stability is outstanding!
My 61 SG reissue was in need of some upgraded hardware after over a decade with the stock Kluson's. Needless to way these transformed the way it played and the way it looks. It turned my 61 reissue into what looks like a Gibson custom shop and I couldn't be happier with how well and long they hold a tune. Best upgrade I've done to any guitar I own.
I had to drill out the holes just a little to get them started, but once complete it was a great fit. I love the plates, such a great idea to prevent drilling new holes.
Am pleased w these Hipshot locking tuners w universal mounting plate. Very easy installation! They originally sent the incorrect number of mounting strips, but made good on the error, which added three days to getting everything installed & up and running. Overall pleased with the purchase and experience.
Godin solidac . The guitars been a dream since I first saw it. The tuners were terrible though. I did a lot of research because my head stocks a bit thick. 15mm I believe. These went in so easy and work amazing so far. Turns out my holes are curved as well. I was a bit worried but they still installed easily and play great.
I purchase an inexpensive Aria guitar to fix up. All my friends said "fixing this guitar is like putting lipstick on a pig" guess what with a bone nut & saddle, Lute Hole soundhole cover & Holey guitar strap, the best guitar parts are these Hipshot tuners. This guitar now sounds like a Martin D28. Thank you Hipshot for making such a superb products.
My Son and I installed these tuners on his Ibanez guitar. The Universal Mounting Plate worked awesome!! I will say the Ibanez tuning peg holes are 5/16" Dia. These tuners requires a hole just a little bit bigger than 3/8" Dia. We carefully used drill bits to widen out the hole one size at a time until we reached 3/8". From there, we used a dowel rod and 150 grit sand paper to finish the hole to a perfect snug fit. Other than the little extra work at increasing the tuning hole size, the installation was a breeze! I am very impressed with these tuners. The quality of craftsmanship is amazing! Thanks Hipshot!!
