About Us:
In 1982, Hipshot was founded by Dave Borisoff in a small industrial unit in California. It was while assembling electric buses by day and playing pedal steel at night that Dave started inventing hardware for his band mates.
The first invention, the Hipshot String Bender, allowed the band's guitarist to bend his B string with a lever actuated at the hip (hence, Hipshot). Next, Dave came up with a D-tuning mechanism for his band's bass player (known as the Xtender).
Over the years, Hipshot has grown into a 43 person team of machinists, inventors and, musicians. Our factory floor includes CNC mills, industrial lasers, and good old fashioned American labor. Our products can be found on the instruments of the worlds best musicians.
We remain fueled by the idea that well designed, innovative hardware can spur infinite creativity for builders and players alike. We stand behind our products and reach to find new ways to push the envelope of what's possible with a guitar.
After all, electric guitars and basses are still a very new technology with plenty of avenues left to explore and new traditions to develop.
Let's find those new traditions together.
