Works great on drop d tuning but also goes down to a b if you feel like it couldn't have expected better

My third time installing one of these. Always super easy to put on, and easy to keep in tune. Thanks for making a great product! You can hear it used on “Take It To The House” by Louie Lee on youtube and spotify.

I am still having a hard time getting the tuning to intonate correctly between E and drop D.
Anyone has any tricks I would love to know. But out of the gate, it hasn’t been great. It has just been an OK experience.

Hipshot quality can be counted on!

This is the 2nd Extender I have installed on my Bass Guitars. I used to think that I could "afford" to turn the standard key alot of the price. Boy was I wrong! I prefer a 4 string and I am just more comfortable with that format and drop D on the low string when needed. The Hipshot Extender makes this so simple, and saves so much time during the show which keeps the music and the vibe going! Even at rehearsal, it lets me easily switch back and forth, allowing me to concentrate on the song and the moment. Get one!

An ideal direct fit for a Yamaha BB734a, although the 'Regular' key is still a few millimetres shorter than the existing key it replaced, which isn't a problem really as it does what I want it to do. I'd have thought there might be a bit more of a difference than a smidge under 3mm between the Regular and Short keys.

The staff responded to me with alarmingly, quick reflexes, and got the part out to me with very little hassle, and with plenty of time for me to have it installed, and be giga ready! It feels great, and is operating like a charm… Thanks very much!

I bought the Hipshot BT1 Bass Xtender for a G&L L-2000 bass from 1983 as part of my work as a guitar repairman in Binghamton, New York. The part fit perfectly as a direct replacement, the quality was excellent and the shipping was fast. I'll certainly be recommending these if my customers are curious about them.

I originally installed a BT1 regular key on my CLF Research L2000. My OCD got the best of me and I ordered 3 HB1 regular keys to match. The G&L tuners are good tuners; Hipshots are next level.

Installed the BT1 Bass Xtender short key on my Musicman Stingray. I can't believe how well it actually works. So slippage what so ever when jumping from E to D and back. This product exceeded my expectations.

I know it's not advertised to fit, but these will fit newer Rickenbacker 4003 basses with the larger headstock, which was introduced in the early 2000s.
My 4003 is a January 2010 build, and the XTender fits perfectly.
The issue with the smaller headstock used on earlier 4003 and all 4001 basses is that it will interfere with the G string tuner. One could possibly modify a spare G tuner to allow installation of the XTender, I have not tried.
I can assure everyone that on the newer headstock, it is a perfect fit, and works smoothly and beautifully, and of course is a handsome unit, actually not easy to spot from the front, all you can see is the arm, so if you're trying to be stealthy in an old school type band, only you will know! :)
I highly recommend the XTenders, I have one on my Jazz bass as well.
Top quality, and stellar service, you can't do any better than Hipshot.

I have a new EB MM Stingray 4... 2 band eq that is my favorite bass....but I miss the low B string on my 6 and 7 string basses.... Not anymore ... The double stop Xtender allows me to drop to a D and click again to a low B... I now have a 4 string bass that does what a 5 does without the extra "get in the way"factor! Hipshot rules the from the "bottom" to the top.

I play in a a band (El Sledge+) in which the guitarist employsthe NST (New Standard Tuning), a C pentatonic tuning where the guitar strings are tuned (from lowest to highest) as follows: C-G-D-A-E-G. So a bunch of songs are in the key of D or in related keys. The Hipshot bass extender thus gives me access to a low "D". Without this facility I'd have to sacrifice the robust richness of a low "D" and be forced to sound the "D" note in not-nearly-as-satisfactory/friendly positions that are not only higher but also must be sounded on the thinner gauged strings. The Hipshot Bass Extender is a simple yet amazingly clever innovation for bassists. I installed it myself in minutes using the simple and clear tutorial available at this site along with the writtien instructions included in the device's packaging. Orchids!

I just have to say you are without question the friendliest, service orientated, efficient and down to earth operation I ever had the pleasure of 'being involved' with as a customer. And Iask myself, and advise others,-----Why go anywhere else?
As for my extender, superb!! Opens up a huge array of benefits to the musical palette, including wonderful low-end pedal notes
reminiscent of a Bach Prelude! It can also give resolution to that riff you've always wanted to slot into some hard drivin' rock number.
Use one-It's that simple.
