Hello. My experience with this item is, that this is SO much better than the naff plastic jobbies you would normally get elsewhere! This item is well worth the money. Taking it out of the shipping box and putting it into my hand, it felt as heavy and substantial as an ingot of Fort Knox gold. It is solid metal the whole way through, not hollow at all. In minutes, I had removed the old beat up Fender thumbrest from my bass and installed this uniquely suitable replacement. In action, it feels cool to the touch (which is nice when your hand gets smoking hot from playing finger style!) In short, a very nice accoutrement that is not only versatile, but looks downright spiffy to boot! Awesomeness.

Wanted to add a "tug bar" to my MIM active Fender Jazz Bass. I bought one of these along with an 11-hole pick guard, which is Fender branded. I decided not to get a Fender finger rest, 'cause online reviews indicated they are hollow plastic items that aren't substantial. The Hipshot finger rests cost about 3X as much, but they are machined brass. The fit is perfect, and they feel rugged. Not much more to say about finger rests, except I've found myself wanting to add a second one -- one above and one below the strings. These things are addictive!
