Whether you want the extra security of Grip-Lock™ tuners or the buttoned-up aesthetic of classic machines, the UMP™ (Universal Mount Plate) allows you to upgrade with no drilling or special tools. Plus, reverting back can be done with no evidence you ever upgraded.

  • Standard tuners retrofit guitars with 13/32" [10mm] headstock holes
  • Included UMP™ (Universal Mount Plate) for 6 Inline headstocks fits guitars with 6 tuners on a side. No drilling or special tools required
  • Open gear tuners come with HS buttons by default. Enclosed tuners come with Hex buttons by default. Lots of button options are available
  • Bass side or treble side mounting options
  • Open gear tuners are 18:1. Enclosed tuning machines are 15:1
  • Staggered post uses (2) 21mm, (2) 20mm, (2) 19mm post length tuning machines (see instructions for further details)
  • Non staggered post uses (6) 21mm post length tuning machines
  • Grip-Lock™ option uses a pin and thumb wheel system to clamp onto your string, no wraps needed
  • Classic option uses traditional, non-locking string post for weight savings on guitars with neck dive

It is crazy how easy the install of these was! I don't do much of my own luthier work but I wanted to try these out and seriously anybody can install these! Fit like a glove on my Ibanez RGA42EXBAM. Way better tuning stability now as well compared to the stock tuners. Next will be the hipshot ibby plate bridge!

I love these Hipshot 6-in-line, High Ratio (18:1) Graduated Post, Locking Tuners!! I have been using them for many years on my 1986 Pensa-Suhr Guitar, and I have them on 3 other instruments now. The machining is precise, and the tuning machines are solid and stable. Hipshot is always a pleasure to deal with, and this recent experience was also great. I wanted an exact replacement, but I didn't see the need to replace my tuner 'buttons.' My old "Hex" style buttons would be fine. Swapping them out with the ones provided was simple enough. . (although I had a little difficulty lining up the screw threads on one tuner. Next time I'll just order them with the buttons I like.) These are the best tuners I have found for Electric Guitar ❧ Maintain your Frets; Intonate your Bridge properly, stretch out your new strings, and most importantly, listen carefully ( ! ) Cellist Pablo Casals said "Intonation is a matter of conscience." These Hipshot tuners will help! ✯✯✯✯✯

I bought these tuners for my Schecter Hellraiser Avenger because the Grover tuners were old and I feared breaking a string while tuning, so I installed them, and the tuning stability is that much sweeter! Next, I'm installing a Hipshot Tone-A-Matic Bridge on my Avenger

These were perfect, I got the closed back six inline locking tuners, non-staggered. They fit my Ibanez RG like a glove. So easy to install—no screws or pins—and the backing plate helps keep everything aligned. So far so good, they’re keeping everything in tune!

Awesome tuners!! Got the upgrade kit for my LTD. Very easy to install, even for someone who hasn’t done it before. The tuners work very well, a nice high ratio so you can make small adjustments if needed. The plates (included in the kit) are thin and not even noticeable on the back of the headstock. They could be a bit wider to cover the screw holes from Grover machine heads, but that’s not a big deal. The gold open gears look great in contrast to the black machine heads. I’m very glad I purchased these, and if you’re considering them then don’t hesitate to pull the trigger.

This is the second set I have installed. These are on a Tagima T505 Hand Made and it could not have been easier. They are the same headstock bore and with the UMP system they drop right it ! Tighten the nut string it, tune it and play. Love Hipshot products!

Well, unfortunately, I can't use the product. I bought to install on a Solar guitar, but they don't fit. No fingers to point here. I know that Solar guitars tuners are a little closer than most other brands, so they're just a little too close and the mounting holes on the tuners don't allow for all of them to fit on the headstock. So, boo. But, it's ok. I've used Hipshot tuners before, and they're great. I'm going to hold onto them because I'd like to do another Warmoth guitar build in the future, and I can use these tuners on that build.

All my guitars have your tuners and bridges on them. I am working on a stewmac es335 which I plan to put your wrap around and bridge on it’s being French polished now and some repairs on the maple but I will be ordering the parts over the next few months

Order is correct, Everything works as intended. The universal installation plate ensures compatibility and keeps you from having to drill holes. I’ve only had it for a day so I can’t vouch for how well it’ll serve me over time, but I feel pretty confident in the assumption that it will last and continually outperform the stock tuners I replaced!

I told my wife that i could install these locking tuners in ten minutes. Forgot i had to install my TI strings too, so i had to buy her dinner out as including cleanup, took a little less than a half an hour. The instructions wer superb and installation was easy peezie. Would recommend them to anyone with a Tellie (remember, the Fender locking tuners only fit a big-buck American Tellie and my absolutely gorgeous set neck special-custom tellie is everything i could ask for except the tuners, but Hipshot fixed that. Thanks for a great product at a reasonable price.

Great item. I have an explorer so I had to run one of the mounting plates against a belt sander for a few seconds so they would fit. Would be nice to have a slightly shorter size to accommodate guitars that have tuning pegs a little closer together
