Really great tuning machine, huge improvement over what came on my Fender jazz bass. I had to do a little work with Hipshot to get the right set up for my bass and they we're fast, responsive, and overall great to work with. I'm really happy with my experience overall.

These tuners are amazing ! Direct replacement for the Fender 70' and Schaller BMF tuners. Easy installation and no need to drill new screw holes (the included screws are slightly wider, so it's a perfect fit). You can even use the old peg bushings, the tuners fit in perfectly. Best tuners I've ever had on a bass guitar !

This particular bass is the coolest Jazz ever, at least for me. I bought it in Japan in 2001 and its Achilles Heal are the stock Gotoh tuners. They've just always been sloppy. In 2012 I bought my first Lakland US 44-64 that has custom Hipshot tuning keys with tapered string posts which help improve the break angle over the nut which at the very least improves tuning stability. So when it came time to join the Hipshot replacement party on this Jazz Bass I made sure to get the tapered string posts. And they look pretty awesome with the lollipop/oval keys!

The tuners on my Sire Marcus Miller V7 4 string were constantly going out of tune which is especially annoying during a gig. I mistakenly ordered the wrong tuners with a gig coming up. Customer service was top notch and got me the right tuners in two days which was right in time for the next gig. It turns out that HB-2's are the ones to buy. They do NOT use the same screw holes so you need to drill your own (I only ended up with one half of a screw hole left showing after the installation. If you're super fussy you can use the toothpock and carpenter glue fix. Look it up on Youtube, there are several videos on tuner replacement. The tuners all fit just fine (and look great too) using the stock holes and even the stock bushings . The tuning instability is gone and If it does go out of tune (rare) its a matter of a cent or sometimes two. Not semitones like it was with the stock tuners. If you're playing a Sire Marcus Miller and having tuning issues buy these. You won't be disappointed.

The HB2 fit my mid-70's Jazz Bass perfectly. They have excellent tuning resolution, very smooth, and are very well made. I am extremely happy with the purchase, and have also installed the Hipshot Kick Ass bridge.

After recently upgrading the bridge on my Geddy Lee Fender Jazz bass to a hipshot Kickass bridge, I was sold on hipshot quality, so I decided to upgrade my tuners as well. These HB2s were a great drop-in replacement, just like the other reviewers say, and all the screw holes lined up exactly to the stock tuners. I chose the black ones to match the black Kickass I had installed, and they look great! As an added bonus, they work even better than they look! Comparing the original tuners to these, I could see the difference in gearing right away, and once they were installed, I was amazed at the difference in my ability to fine tune each string. I can't say enough great things about my Hipshot experience.

Direct replacement for Fender (Schaller?) originals on my 2009 MIJ Geddy Lee jazz. Big weight reduction way out on the headstock, crisp and precise tuning, no wobble, rock solid tuning stability, better chrome plating than stock, much easier to turn under load... Other than that, no big deal (LOL!) Seriously, a dramatic and positive improvement!

ese are very good tuners, there are no better. I use on a fender heavy, maple fretless, no lines, neck. Even if I leave the bass in the car, in terrible heat, with heavy strings it's almost always in tune, more than any other bass, these tuners makes it a very good bass to play, a workhorse.
I did a gig in LA and somehow one of the tuners got sheared off when they moved out our gear with a forklift type machine to the stage. The bass was still in tune.
Hipshot replaced it. I love this company and will buy more.
I plan to buy the Supertone 3 point bridge for my Gibson.

These are great tuners!!! They make my 68' tele look very original. HipShot should make an aged version of these since they fit old 60's-70's basses.
I Love These Tuner On My Jazz Bass
I purchased a set of these and installed them on my Japanese Fender Geddy Lee Signature Jazz Bass. These little babies made a world of difference! The stock tuning keys are very touchy and quickly go from “perfectly in tune” to “way out” with just a fraction of a turn. The HB2’s are a huge improvement. Now my bass tunes like a high end bass. Plus the tension screw is great. I can adjust it so that they’re not so easy to turn. Try that with a stock tuner! These dropped right in on my bass. I did not have to drill new holes, or even remove the stock peg bushings. They just work… and work great!
