This upgrade was done on a 1953 Gibson J50. I inherited it from my dad. He traded an Indian motorcycle for the guitar in 1961. The stock Kluson tuners had become sloppy and loose. I bought this kit as it was a direct replacement. No modification done to the guitar. I let the guitar sit for two weeks, and it was still in tune. This was a fantastic investment. The fit and finish is great. I thought the warmer luster of nickel would look nicer on a guitar with natural patina.
I was dreading the thought of boring holes into a vintage guitar to fit modern tuners when I ran across Hipshot Tuners. Installed them quickly and easily and my old Les Paul holds a tune like it hasn't in years. They look great also.
Excellent upgrade on my Gretsch hollow body Electromatic. The stock tuners weren’t the best with the Bigsby, these Hipshot locking tuners keep the guitar perfectly in tune! Added bonus with being able to customize the tuners to the Deco style, really fits the style of the guitar.
