Fit my bass, love the open string retainer design. Heavy brass, well made.

I needed a string through bridge for a custom design with an integrated full body ramp. This bridge delivered in spades! All of my Minor 7 custom bass designs feature hipshot bridges for the ultimate in performance, consistency and stunning looks

I bought this bass used; the original bridge was off-center and warped. The only drop-in would have been another original bridge, and I didn't much care for that. The Hipshot A type looked like my best bet. The EB Chrome flats' silks stay off the saddles almost completely now, too. I'm a fan.

This is the best looking and functioning bass bridge design I have come across, that's why is comes standard on Labyrinth Guitarworks basses! Always top quality with Hipshot.

My friend guitar builder D. Poznysh does for me 5 string bass. He recommended hardware from Hipshot. That's what I did.
But there was one problem, the bridge must be custom color combination chrome + black.
I wrote to the Hipshot, and I was told no problem, you will have such a bridge!
After 10 days, I got it! Workmanship is excellent. I am very pleased with the acquisition
When the bass is ready, I will write another review. Thank Hipshot! You are the best.
P.S. Another advantage of the services offered on the choice of material is aluminum or brass, spacing. I had to 0.750 (19mm). Not every manufacturer will be a 5-string bridge with distance and adjustment.

As start-up bass builder I'm only using the Hipshot bridge on all my basses.
This is the best bass bridge on the market, the only thing is to change the angle of the string spacing locking screw... If this one feature would be done, than the bridge would be more than perfect!

The chrome-plated brass is great...added sustain and treble boost. I installed it on my Fender 5-string Jazz Bass (MIM) and it completely transformed the instrument!
I can't say enough good things about this product...it by far the best replacement bridge in its price range. The stock bent Fender L bridge wasn't even mounted correctly from the Mexican factory and was offset. The strings weren't centered on the neck. This corrected the problem!
I also noticed that with these cheaper basses, the pickup cavities are routered wrong so that the strings won't up with the magnetic pole pieces...but at least the bridge is correct now.
I had to fill in the existing 5 screw holes in the bass' body before drilling 3 new holes for this bridge. For the MIM J5, the factory holes are completely hidden under the bridge. The new holes aren't anywhere near the old ones, so there's no problem with drilling too close to an existing hole.
Drilling pilot holes is easy if you take your time. Set the depth on your drill so the bit only goes in about 3/4 of the length of the screw. Start with a small bit, then gradually increase the size, and gradually decrease the depth of pilot hole. I used 3 different drill bits and the install was seamless and easy.
Perfect! 5 stars!

I purchased and installed a brass bridge to replace the original Hipshot aluminum bridge. The difference in tone was immediate. With the brass, I got more clarity, crystalline bell like top end and overtones. It was almost like installing new strings. In my 30+ years, I never experienced such drastic change just by replacing a bridge. There is a distinct tonal difference between aluminum and brass. It’s up to you to find what suits your tastes. This brass 5 string bridge is top notch quality, second to none. The tone I have now is very "piano" like and bright. Which is exactly what I'm looking for and found.
